All about me and then some.
Hello there! I feel fortunate to be your teacher and look forward to many learning adventures this term. I love to try new things and feel that the best state of growth for anyone is to constantly evolve and take on new challenges. In the spirit of living what I speak, I have now worked at three high schools within our district. I spent two years at La Costa Canyon, then wandered off to have eleven awesome years at Canyon Crest Academy. Then, I had triplets. Yes. You read that right. As such, I then jumped ship to be a founding staff member at Pacific Trails Middle School. But I always missed high school. Always. So, I waited for my children to grow, learn how to dress themselves, and be ready for me to move back to high school-land. It was time. Now, I jump again to San Dieguito Academy High School to return to high school. Woohoo!

I have had an outstanding stay at Canyon Crest Academy and Pacific Trails Middle School. I have had the good fortune of participating in so many great things within our district that have made a huge impact In my life. Here are some of the highlights of my career in high school & middle school-land:
- I have participated in two flash mobs on campus, one with Kazoos and the other where I danced horribly.
- I participated in a 25 hour reading of Moby Dick led by fearless teacher, Kevin Leal. Oh, the insanity.
- I have taught the extremes in English - Honors English 9, and Advanced Placement English Literature (AP12); I have also loved teaching Creative Writing, College Application Seminar and Business.,
- Speaking of business. . . I helped launch a student-run cafe--the first of it's kind in the district and in California. The students named it the Nest and it's been modeled at SDA and other campuses within the district. Woohoo!
- My last year at CCA my business students won national acclaim in Washington D.C. when they won Company of the Year for the development of their app: CCA Today. Additionally, two other teams Life Support Chargers, a phone charger rental service, and RideNSurf, a beach transportation company inspired by Lyft and Uber, won local awards for their innovation. Check out the CCAToday Commercial here.
- My last year of creative writing, my students made an awesome contribution by honoring national poetry month with an Edgar Allen Poe image and section of "The Raven" down a staircase in building C. I'll always love "the Raven" --CAH, CAH.
- I have hosted Dr. Bronner's Bubble Bus to the middle school campus for a little stress relief.
- I have lined the hallways in bubble-wrap to add cultural capital to our new campus.
- I have taught every level of English save the 11th grade-- ironically American Literature was my focus in college.
- I'm a mother of triplets and they are ten years old. This translates to hours of love and labor at home, so think of me when you turn in an assignment. Ask yourself: Have I put in the passion and work needed to make this awesome enough to take Chufo away from her children while grading this? : )
- I am a huge fan of the Challenged Athlete's Foundation or CAF. My son is an amputee and so I am on a mission to bring in funds to support all people who need prosthetics to lead an active life.
- English Breakfast tea is my favorite of all time and I love high tea. Of course, I don't have time for high tea in my life, but if I could have it every day, I would. It's awesome.
- I love student travel and firmly believe in the cultural capital gained from travel. I have been to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Egypt, Peru, Italy, Iceland, Spain, France, Costa Rica, and hoping to travel more.
- I have one Maltipoo named Link (yes--after the video game: The Legend of Zelda) and and a new Ausidoodle, named Bucky--
- I am currently reading Designing Your Life.
